BE YOUR OWN SUPERHERO

Today is World Mental Health Day. Congratulations for living in an era where word ‘mental’ has risen above being synonymous to irrational and unreasonable behaviour, and is paired with the word ‘health’. We are witnessing a time when Mental Health is weighing more than ever in the history of humankind. Today, we have researchers studying about the subject, bloggers writing about the matter and celebrities talking about the topic. But, how conscious are we for our the mental health?

Let us discuss two scenarios.

Scenario 1:

If you have headache for two hours, you bear it.

If you have headache for four hours, you take a pill.

If you have headache for the whole day, you take the next day off and visit a doctor.

Scenario 2:

If you feel low and lethargic for a day, you divert your mind with memes.

If you feel low and lethargic for a week, you try to find reason for it.

If you feel low and lethargic for a month, you learn to live with it.

Now, I see that both the scenarios are almost the same but the course of action defers. I think the word ‘feel’ is the culprit.

According to Wikipedia, feeling or emotion is any conscious experience characterized by intense mental activity and a certain degree of pleasure or displeasure. This intense mental activity may include millions and billions of chemical reactions, hormone secretions, electric signals and even neuron size variations. I don’t think it is easy to control these, every time. Sometimes, you may require more than an ice cream tub and a cute cat video. You may require to be a superhero, someone like “PsychSavior”.

PsychSavior has got some really cool superpowers:

She swears by this Mantra in her own words,

“Well, following the Mantra is tough! The ‘Accept’ stage requires all the strength of my gut. But hey! I’m a superhero with super responsibilities. I gotta protect my brain city, I have to follow its rules. Once I pass the ‘Accept’ stage, its so much easy with my Awesome Sidekicks and Psych Guru. Frankly, I’m not a hotshot! You all can be me, the PsychSavior”

Oh PsychSavior! You strong, humble superhero!!!

She made it sound so simple and she’s right. All you need to do is find these superpowers within and around ourselves, muster up a little strength and Voila! You’re a superhero!!!

So, are you ready to be your own superhero? (With a little better name, maybe)
