July hurts as good as it heals

They’d foam at the sight of foul flesh

But you’ve desensitized yourself

to broken fingernails

And sour breath

She plants them in organized rows

On the pillow end of a flower head

Hidden from the rest of the world

Only apparent to those who know where to look

Throw the fish back in the television static

Ripples are infinite

Until they are not
