And they came in

And this is crap.
This is crap because
I pay these people
To be good.
I pay them
To be worthy of their posts -
Worthy of protecting their Queen
And queens are not charged
With the weight of halberds
Or misgivings and second-guessings,
And here we are, once again,
Lighting sardonic cigarettes
With the embers of our smoldering ruins,
Vowing to rebuild,
Hanging our heads in shame,
Unable to look our Queen in the eye
Unable to speak our sacred oaths
Aloud again for some time,
Because they made liars of us
Again. Again.
This is crap.
Get fucking drunk all you want.
Get drunk and fuck the living daylights
Out of her until you’re drunker from
Fucking her than you were from drinking
In the first fucking place
But, and I can’t believe
I’m explaining this to you,
Lock the doors
And stand guard
And shoot to kill
The moment the shadow
Appears in the light of the lantern.
This is a peaceful kingdom
Only if and only as long as
Somebody pays attention around here.
